Natural Beauty Ingredients: How to Use Honey and Apple Cider Vinegar For Beautiful Skin and Hair

It is wise to always keep a bottle of honey and apple cider vinegar in the house or apartment whenever the skin and hair need a little extra care. These products have a timeless shelf life and are extremely versatile.

Honey:

Honey is a great natural beauty ingredient that gives the results of fancy treatments without the expense. Honey is extremely versatile and can be used to cater a number of skin and hair needs.

Do not shy away from this sticky substance. It may be a little difficult to apply, but it is well worth it and it rinses off skin and hair with total ease.

Skin

Honey purifies the skin when used as a facial mask. Honey contains potassium which is nature’s antibacterial agent. It kills bacteria and removes impurities that are hiding deep within pores and allows them to be rinsed away. Honey is also a natural emollient and helps the skin retain moisture to prevent dryness.

A tablespoon of honey can also be mixed with ¼ cup of mild liquid soap and ½ cup of water to create a clarifying face and body wash.

Hair

Honey is a wonderful revitalizing agent for dull or damaged hair. If hair is colored, exposed to heat, pollution or any other abuse, honey will give life back to hair. Though it may be difficult to apply, the best strategy is to apply honey with a squeeze bottle starting at the roots.

Wait until the last possible second before using your hands to assure that the honey has totally saturated the hair. A shower cap is not necessary because honey will hold hair. Twist hair up into a bun and secure it with a hair clip or pin if needed. Leave on for 20 minutes, rinse in the shower and shampoo as usual.

Honey gives subtle highlights to brunettes and enhances color in blonds. If this is not desired, use molasses instead.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is a natural beauty ingredient necessary to keep available for certain skin and hair emergencies. Apple cider vinegar is the quick fix for problems that strike out of nowhere such as breakouts and dandruff.

Skin

The acid in apple cider vinegar balances skin that is suddenly breaking out due to hormones or humid weather. If skin suddenly breaks out, make a skin toner consisting of 1 part apple cider vinegar to 4 parts water.

Apply with a cotton ball after cleansing the skin twice a day. If you want to go the extra mile to clear skin fast, take an apple cider vinegar tablet once a day until skin clears.

Supplements can be found in the weight loss section of drugstores as they also raise metabolism.

For soft and clear skin, add a cup of apple cider vinegar to bathwater. This bath mixture helps with mild skin itching and irritation.

Hair

Apple cider vinegar is the perfect hair rinse to maintain a healthy scalp. It clarifies the scalp by removing dead skin cells that could be potentially clogging hair follicles and causing embarrassing dandruff.

Simply pour over dry hair and work into the scalp with fingertips. Allow the vinegar to saturate the hair from root to ends. Let sit for about 5 minutes and shampoo as usual.

Hair will be shiny and full of volume, and the scalp will feel clean and healthy. This rinse can be used weekly for dandruff prone hair to maintain a healthy scalp or used as necessary whenever flakes occur.
