Natural and Organic Eye Cream Recipes: Inexpensive Ways To Make Eye Treatment Products At Home

Anti-wrinkle creams are one of the best-selling products in the skin care industry. Many people want to look younger and feel better.

Unfortunately, many products that claim to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles fall short on their promises. The anti-aging products that work well often come with a hefty price.

Anti-aging eye creams are easy to make at home. While they do not have the benefit of years of expensive testing behind them, the natural ingredients do provide some of the anti-aging benefits to the skin in the same way that over-the-counter products perform.

Apple and Potato Soothing Eye Cream Recipe

Apples contain malic acid, which is an alpha-hydroxy acid used in skin care products. Alpha-hydroxy acid products help to exfoliate the surface of the skin and boost cellular renewal, two key components to reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

To make the apple and potato soothing eye cream, you will need:

  • 3-4 tablespoons unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 medium sized potato, grated
  • Small plastic bowl and spoon for mixing
  • A cool, damp cloth

How to make:

  • Combine the grated potato and the applesauce together in the bowl. Cover, and allow it to chill in the bowl for five minutes.
  • Apply around the eye area, keeping the mixture about a quarter-inch away from the eye.
  • Do not apply directly to the eyelids. Once the mixture has been applied, recline and apply the damp cloth over the eyes.
  • Allow it to penetrate the skin for five to ten minutes, then rinse the mixture off with warm water.
  • This mask can be used up to three to five times per week, but should be made fresh each week to avoid spoiling.

Vegetable Medley Eye Cream Recipe

Vegetables are good for the skin, both internally and as an external cream.

Many natural skin care companies use vegetables, such as carrots and tomatoes, in their skin care products. Tomatoes are an excellent source of antioxidants, which help the skin repair and renew itself.

In this recipe, the rich tomato puree helps to encourage cellular renewal, the turmeric powder helps to stimulate blood flow, carrying oxygen to the eye area, and the citrus juice works as an alpha-hydroxy acid to smooth the surface of the skin.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup tomato puree (either fresh or canned)
  • 1/8 tsp. tumeric powder
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon or lime juice
  • 1 Tbsp. wheat flour

How to make:

  • To make the eye cream, combine all of the ingredients except the wheat flour. Stir in a little flour at a time, until a thick past has formed.
  • Gently apply the natural eye cream around the eye area, being careful to not allow it to be too close to the actual eye.
  • Do not apply this eye cream directly to the eyelids.
  • Recline and allow the mixture to dry, approximately ten minutes.
  • Rinse, being careful to not pull or tug on the gentle skin around the eye area.

Herbal Tea Bag Eye Care Recipe

Herbal tea compresses are a popular way to treat swollen, puffy, or tired eyes. Not only do many of the herbs used in tea contain calming and soothing properties, they also contain powerful antioxidant ingredients which help to encourage circulation and cellular renewal.

After steeping the tea, allow the tea bags to cool for approximately five minutes. Wring the tea bag free of excess water, recline, and apply one tea bag to each eye.

Allow it to rest on the eyelid and surrounding area for approximately ten minutes. Rinse the eye area and throw the tea bag away. For additional benefits, used tea bags can be cooled in the refrigerator for up to one week before use.
